Visit of the museums in the Dresden Zwinger
It is still home to the Old Masters Picture Gallery and the Sculpture Collection will also be presented in the Semperbau with its complete reopening in 2019. Next to the Frauenkirche, it is the most popular destination for visitors to Dresden: the Zwinger. No wonder, since the building complex with gardens and fountains is one of the most important baroque buildings in Germany. As early as 1728, the Zwinger was converted into a place of knowledge, as the natural science collections, the copperplate engraving cabinet and a library moved in. In 1746, the Mathematical-Physical Salon was added, which, along with the porcelain collection, can still be visited here today. In 1855 Gottfried Semper built the Semper Building on the Elbe side, one of the most important museum projects of the 19th century.
